35th ANNUAL MOLLY LITTLE FILM SERIES
Tuesdays (January 20-February 24), 11 a.m.-noon
Join the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries on Tuesdays (January 20-February
24) from 11 a.m.-noon for the 35th Annual Molly Little Film Series that will focus on Post-
Impressionism, the beginnings of Modern Art.
Attendees will learn about the art movement that
moved beyond Impressionism's focus on naturalistic light and color and used vivid, unnatural
colors, bold strokes, and distorted forms to express emotion and symbolic meaning.
The course is a series of video classes taught by Ricky Allman, Professor of Painting and Drawing at the
University of Missouri-Kansas City, and produced by The Great Courses.
The series will be presented in the Haskell Room at Southworth Library, 732 Dartmouth Street.
On six successive Tuesday mornings (starting January 20),
Participants will explore the following topics in two 30-minute videos during each session:
- Henri Rousseau’s Jungles of the Mind; Post-Impressionism beyond France (February 17);
- Gustav Klimt’s Journey to Art Nouveau; Why Post-Impressionism Matters (February 24).
Snow days will be March 3 and March 10.
All programs are free and open to the public. For more information, please e-mail
